Pre Convention Update

Over the past few weeks we have seen a growing list of endorsements from both Edmonds and Jones.  In Edmonds' corner are Mike Bishop, Mike Shirkey, Pat Colbeck, and Right Michigan while Matt Jones has rolled out Earl Poleski, Gene Clem, and Congressman Rogers.

While both candidates have posted their "plans" to their websites neither have impressed the delegates at large.  On the campaign trail Edmonds has failed to express a concise message and has yet to address multiple screen shots of his social networking activity that could be seen as crass (Multiple photos of Edmonds posting f*** on twitter and a picture he posted on Facebook of him calling a waitress a derogatory name, implying he has a problem with women).  Meanwhile Jones has been stiff in public appearances and sometimes not even present - once again calling into question his seriousness about running (see law school rumors). The candidates also participated in a debate that was mostly lackluster, but interesting nonetheless (however it is unlikely it changed any minds).

Ultimately this race comes down to two things: Authenticity and Capability.

This blog has received numerous tips and slanderous emails (even a few positive ones) that we have taken into account. This week we want to hear what YOU have to say.  Email us at miyouthgop@gmail.com to make your voice heard as we prepare to make an endorsement on Wednesday.

Endorsements and Rumors

Within days of each other both Youth Vice-Chair candidates Blake Edmonds and Matt Jones released endorsement lists.  Edmonds' list contained notable supporters such as National Committeeman Dave Agema and current Youth Vice-Chair Sarah Ledford while Jones countered by rolling out ten Victory Center Directors that support his candidacy.

What do these announcements mean? Absolutely Nothing.

Here's free advice for these two candidates.  Show us a list of hundreds of precinct delegates, dozens of county party chairman, and respected elected officials if you want your emails to have an impact on the looming convention.

Rumors continue to fly regarding Jones' actual involvement in political activity and leadership positions.  Whether experience is a relevant factor in this race or not (neither candidate is even 21 yet so how much experience can either have) the fact is that the rumor mill continues to spin.

We have heard no negative chatter about Edmonds thus far, but one bit of troubling information has surfaced.  This recent tweet from the candidate calls into question his social awareness.
